About Counselling

When and why?

In life, it is often the things we do not plan or predict that may throw us off and make us stumble. Some of the signs that something is not right can be anxiety, insomnia, self-sabotaging habits or challenges in our close relationships. In different stages of our lives we may also feel that it is difficult to make sense or to find meaning. We may seek counselling when we sense that such critical stages also can open up for opportunities to change and grow.

What and where to?

In counselling we give ourselves the opportunity to slow down and to be deeply honest with ourselves in exploring our options, our motifs and our inner beliefs. This may help us to regain our balance to keep moving forward with a better awareness of where we are coming from and where we want to go. The underlying assumption is that the client has the full potential to uncover and interpret their experiences to the benefit of their personal evolution.

How and who?

Within the scope of counselling, we find a wide range of theories and applications. I work mainly from what is sometimes referred to as an integral approach, centred around narratives and relationships. By revisiting our internalized personal stories, we can find new perspectives on how we relate to other people and to ourselves. The inquiring dialogue between counsellor and client is an organic process, which can be enhanced by incorporating practices such as journaling, breathwork and mindfulness.
